South Beach Civic Association

Staten Island, NY

19th ANNUAL PICNIC

On Saturday, July 17th the South Beach Civic Association held their 19th Educational Picnic at the Vanderbilt South Fin Grill. This special event was comprised of 20 years of Volunteer work for the Community, and Staten Island. It was a delightful event getting together with members of the South Beach Civic Association, their families, and friends after being in quarantine due to Covid 19. This 19th Educational Picnic was the highest attended picnic in South Beach Civic history. Total of 186 attendees. In attendance there were also various community leaders, business owners, several political candidates and elected officials that helped to support the South Beach Civic during the past 20 years.

With all the delicious appetizing foods, refreshments, and desserts. We send out a Special Thank You to the Vanderbilt Owners Mark & Joe Tranchina, Event Coordinators Brittany Felice, and Sal Sulsenti, and Michelle Galvano Maître D. They have worked and supported us since 2009.

Six people were honored with a plaque for their Commitment, Dedication, Trust and Respect to the South Beach Civic Association and to the Staten Island Community. The 19th Educational Picnic was a tremendous success due to the hard work of the President Joseph McAllister, RoseAnn McAllister-Vice President, Dianne Romano-Treasurer, Pat Venezia- Secretary and the Board members of the South Beach Civic Association, Angie Antonelli, Susan Hansen, and Patricia Venezia.

Friends, Families, and Businesses supporting the Civic and Community residents came out to share their friendship and support to be a part of this 20-year special event. Last year was to be the 19th Educational event but due to Covid -19 it forced us to cancel until this July 2021. Everyone was disappointed but were guaranteed a bigger and much awaited spectacular event this year. It was great to see so many people coming together to be a part of this elite civic association, we all work hard to resolve quality of life issues and the betterment for all.

20 years have come and gone in the blink of an eye with so many accomplishments achieved. Our legacy to educate and enforce quality of life issues will continue to live on indefinitely. It has been a challenge to delegate and direct all the issues and plans to make Staten Island a better place to live. We have put together a 20-year Celebration Journal Book that shows the years forming the civic, rallies, issues, accomplishments, and educational and special events held. Persistence to resolve issues and enforce ideas brought to the civic is what makes the South Beach Civic Association stand out being the most intrigued Civic Association.

Following letter from Linda Sollazzo;

John and I have been members of the South Beach Civic for some years now. It was such an honor to be recognized by them with the Joseph C. McAllister Sr. Award. We are proud to help the Civic and our good friends Roe and Joe McAllister with their mission to help their fellow neighbors. From recovery from Hurricane Sandy to addressing various neighborhood concerns like street repair and crime they have put in 100% of their time and genuine concern for all who live here. I think we should all leave our community better than we found it. Words to live by.
