We are pleased to announce that the Special East Shore Coastal Risk District for the New York State Buyout Areas was adopted by City Council on September 7, 2017. Thank you for all your hard work on developing this proposal!
This is a great milestone, but our work on the East Shore continues. DCP will be hosting an East Shore Interagency Resiliency Open House on Tuesday, September 26th. The goal of this event is to bring together the various public agencies working on East Shore resiliency efforts and provide an opportunity for community members to meet planners one-on-one to ask questions and be better informed on the on-going resiliency efforts in their neighborhood.
DCP will be joined by representatives from city, state and federal agencies who are working on parallel East Shore efforts:
· East Shore Resilient Neighborhoods Report
· East Shore Parks Master Plan
· Line of Protection planning/construction
· Bluebelt construction
The event will be held on Tuesday, September 26th from 6-9 pm at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. The event is designed to be an Open House, so you can spend as much time or as little time meeting with various agencies one on one. There will be a brief presentation on the East Shore reports’ recommendations starting at 6:30pm, but the remainder of the event will permit the community to walk around at various tables and ask questions.
Please help us to get the word out about this event. A flyer is attached, please distribute to your members or others who may be interested in attending. Feel free to reach out with any questions.
Thank you,
Aleena
