Re: Housing Compact Plan

The South Beach Civic Association and I want to THANK YOU and EVERYONE for your help, perseverance, and diligent persistence fighting against Governor Hochul Housing Compact Plan 2023. THANK YOU!!!

I have confirmed with our elected officials that Governor Hochul Housing Compact Plan 2023 was totally removed from the budget. For the past 21 extended days in Albany our elected have considerably disputed this issue whereas Governor Hochul left certain parts (language) of the plan in the budget. With the persistence of our elected State and Assembly leaders fighting to completely remove all language of the Housing Compact Plan 2023, it has been Taken Out Of The 2023 Budget COMPLETEY as of Thursday April 20, 2023.

For your information—————-YES, WE HAVE WON!!!

This is a Victory of the Strength from all of Us, Civic Leaders, Homeowners, Business Owners, Friends, Families, Elected Officials and every person who supported the opposition to Governor Hochul Housing Compact Plan 2023. We all worked together as a group, we joined together and fought a threatening issue at hand for our quality of life. Whether you called your local elected, or went to another borough to protest in opposition, or sent out notices to friends, family and social media or made signs to show your opposition, I commend all of you and thank each and every one for your support and help to make this Housing Compact Plan 2023 be Removed from this budget 2023.

Okay great we have succeeded another year of fighting to keep our quality-of-life issues in check. What does this mean?

Let’s hope this issue does not arise again next year.

Communication is the major priority connection between any person or group, Period.

Governor Hochul needs to sit down with our elected, community civic leaders, and residents of New York City and State.

Let the People of New York State and City put in place in a logical order what should be submitted in any future Plan of a housing compact plan.

1st the Infrastructure needs to accommodate the inrush of people with relation to our roadways, transportation, schools, housing, parking, hospitals, building department inspectors, policing, and jobs.

a) We need to add, expand more accessible roads, and upgrade traffic lights with smart technology.

b) Add more efficient transportation with buses, trains, and ferries.

c)Build state-of-the-art efficient schools.

d)Discussion of how we can make housing acceptable for all New Yorkers. Start with having     knowledgeable inspectors to oversee and enforce better safety standards for the illegal dwelling units that are unsafe. Make them safe the right way, with proper living arrangements!

e) Down zone not upzone to accommodate the parking issue and building issue with new housing developments.

f) Build additional state-of-the-art efficient Hospitals.

g) Hire and train additional workers in the buildings department, electrical, plumbing and all related fields involving housing development.

h) Hire more police and safety officers.

i) Jobs to be created from all the above-listed items needed.

We welcome state-of-the-art, efficient, affordable infrastructure, but we demand proper safety standards to be utilized when this happens.

Again, thank you to everyone, from the South Beach Civic Association, President Joseph McAllister.
